Many filters will block the OP because of too many crossposted groups.

True.

I'm replying to your post just in r.a.p. so that this post, at least,
won't run afoul of crosspost filters.

Folks who would like to say something about the proposed removal
should find the thread in news:news.groups and comment there.

Unfortunately probably true. If you learn of any users who didn't see
the original message because of server-side filtering, would you please
ask them to email their news admin and request that they modify their
filtering to allow this type of message through? To the best of my
knowledge, my NSP (NewsGuy) filters on G5 - that is, they drop messages
crossposted to more than 5 groups. However, as a result of user
requests (mine, in fact, although there may have been other users who
also made the request) they make a special exception for properly
approved messages that include news.announce.newgroups in the crosspost.
News.announce.newgroups is a moderated group and followups are always
set to some smaller number of groups.

If it is the user's own filtering that blocks the crosspost, then they
should adjust their own filters similarly.
